Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan at Mandir
Hindustani Vocal Classes
12-week course (Sat 25th April – Sat 11th July 2026)
Mandir is delighted to partner with the world-renowned Classical Indian Arts & Cultural Centre, Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, to bring high quality Indian Classical music and dance to Kent.
Hindustani Vocal Classes
Indian Hindustani classical vocal music is a traditional North Indian art form focused on expressive, improvised singing based on ragas—melodic frameworks that convey specific moods. Performers explore each raga through slow, meditative passages and faster, rhythmic sections, often accompanied by the tabla and harmonium. The emphasis is on emotional depth, intricate ornamentation, and a spiritual connection between the singer and listener.
Hindustani Classical Vocal Classes at Mandir will be taught by Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan’s Neha Sinha. Neha ji trained under Smt Chandrima Misra, The Bhavan’s principal Hindustani Vocal artist of Patiala Gharana (style).
Classes are open children (6 years+) and adults. No prior experience is required.
Venue: Mandir, Perry St, Chislehurst BR7 6HA.
